The Life and Times of Jason Scheff

Heading over to Warwick

I just pulled in on the Hicksville train, into Penn Station and wow, when you don’t expect it… Walk out onto the street and here it is, the big city… Big Apple.

It almost felt like a movie as I walked out from the underground world of Penn Station. I’m
Immediately, all the great food is staring at you. Yeah, I stopped and got a 7 grain bagel. Amazing and only a buck. That’s cheap, isn’t it? I think so. You’d expect NYC would have bagels for a billion bucks, but I thought this was a good deal.

Anyway, I come up to the street and it’s raining cats and dogs. I bought a 5 dollar umbrella. The little kind, collapsible, REAL collapsible. And yes, it was collapsing, so I ducked into a Starbucks, to rest, dry off a little and use my technology.

I just LOVE this stuff. Blogging on an iPhone. Anywhere, anytime. It’s getting easier by the day. So many people harken back for the good ole days. Not me. I like what we have now. It’s just too easy to go down rabbit holes chasing after the next blinking light that pops up.

I’ve been very guilty of that over the years. But that where the disciple comes in. Think ahead if time, write it down, get organized. I have a long way to go but it’s so much better than it was a year ago. You see it doesn’t take long, it just has to start. The journey must begin otherwise another 2 years go by where I look back at all the times I was “almost” ready.

There is no good time. Right now. That’s the right time. No such thing as “Someday”. Doesn’t exist. There are only 7 days in a week and none of them begin with “Some”.

Alright, another coffee inspired tangent. What’s my post about? I’m making a bad change. After many great years with Lakland I am going with Warwick. A great company out of Germany with a killer custom shop here in NYC.

Typical me, I wasn’t paying attention to my tour schedule enough I realize I was only 20 miles from the city today so I called my new friend, Chris if artist relations it Warwick, and asked if I could come in to play some instruments, start picking some designs, colors, etc.

So here I am! Looks like the rain’s calmed down so I’ll go back out. I wanted to wait so I could hopefully walk. It’s a couple of miles from where I am but I need to get the exercise!

I’ll take some pics and vids from Warwick and post later. I’m very excited about my new relationship. Seems we’re going to talk about what I’m extremely interested in these days, mentorship. They have a great forum on their website with about 7,000 + members in it. I’ll also be talking to them about showing up in their newsletter.

And I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank Lakland basses for all the great years. I will of course continue to use them in the studio and will be using them live with Chicago until my Warwick stuff is finished.

An particularly Dan Lakin who I starte with over at Lakland and John Pirruccello who now runs the company. Oh, and Carl… Thank you all so much.

Alright, it’s back out into the rain for me! See you soon, Jason
