I started working on a solo album with my friend Jay DeMarcus of the band Rascal Flatts. Jay came to the helm and produced Chicago 30 so it was only natural that we work together on an album specifically for me.
What I love is that I’m able to do this these days. In the old days, if someone wanted to make a solo record, especially when a band is *hot*, it’s almost a statement that you might be wanting to branch off. Couldn’t be farther from the truth for me… I love working with Chicago, have been enjoying it for half of my life, but the time is right to keep bringing more assets to the table.
We’re in a day and age where people want to hear new music, so that’s what this is for. Until Chicago gets back in the studio, this is my way of expressing myself.
I’ll keep you posted on the progress of it. Jason

Again thanks for an awesome performance in Paris, July 4, 2011. Great to ‘hear’ from you (again) about this solo production!
I really hope to ‘hear’ something soon. I’m also curious if the video’s about ‘recording’ some ‘golden oldies’ like ‘Edgar Winter’s ‘Free Ride’ (and a lot more) with your Cocoa dudes, will appear on a CD? Or was that just for fun and for good ol’ times sake? From what I heard about it, it sounded awesome!
Keep it coming! Also your ‘blogs’ about the books you’re reading! Love from Holland!
Ingrid
I’m soooo ready for your solo! very excited that Now is going to be on it, wish Love Lives On was on it, such a great song, will you have some love ballads on this cd for the ladies:)
Looking forward to listen to your solo album! Great!
P.S.
You are a fitness enthusiast. I started watching my diet by eating the right kinds of foods and going out to the gym. But I had to stop my gym sessions because it is quite too expensive here in our place. Once I am financially capable, I would go back to it. At the moment, I would enjoy doing my jogs.
Simply cannot wait and understand you and Jay are both busy and I remind myself that good things come to those who wait. But in this case it should be Great things because I can envision this release and just know that its going to be absolutely amazing.Jay is becoming a new father or has become one by now along with Rascal Flatts big tour and you of course with Chicago we have to be patient but that doesnt mean we arent overly excited at the thought. You perform music through your heart and soul and I wish you could hear what we hear one day.
GOOD LUCK AND THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR DREAMS.
A HUG
I have been listening to Chicago music since the early 70′s. Finally got the chance to see Chicago at the Cape Cod Melody Tent on August 18. An awesome performance. Jason, I appreciate your tap on my shoulder and thumbs up when I (very) vocally acknowledged that you were inches away from the crowd! Sorry for my shocked expression. I thought it was a security guard asking me to move along. You truly are very good to your fans! Love your amazing voice. Street Player is my new favorite song. Looking forward to your solo album.
Hope we don’t have to wait too long for another Chicago performance on Cape Cod.
P.S. Smile when I see the count down to your 50th birthday. No worries. Life is definitely damn good after the half century mark.
Best to you.
You’re still my favorite bass player and singer.
And you have cool hair
