I went to Evan & Jaron's party last night. They say it's their 33rd birthday so I believe them. Maybe if there are any other E & J fans you can confirm! It was nice running into some old friends. Jonathan Silverman and I've known each other for several years starting with David Wells' charity events he used to have back in Tampa.
Last time I'd seen Bob Sagat was at David's wedding which was quite a while ago. One of the funniest guys I've ever witnessed was Sagat going up to *toast* (roast) the bride and groom. I'd always heard what he was like underneath the squeaky clean image he has from the family tv he's done. WHOAAAAAAAAA!!! If anybody has ever heard this guy doing what he started out as, and has gone back to, you know what I'm talking about! It's not for everybody but this is one of the filthiest comics you will EVER hear. And it's not a case of a guy who's got an image he's trying to reinvent. You'd be able to spot that a mile away. A guy who's REALLY trying to be something he's not. That's not Bob though. Seriously, one of the FUNNIEST people I've ever heard on the planet and such a surprise after seeing him all those years on those shows. He says he's doing an HBO special coming up soon. You HAVE to see it!
And then there was Frank Stallone! He's been friends with the band Chicago for MANY years. It was great catching up with him in fact that's who I spent most of my time with at the party. He LOVES talking music. Still tours and is just a music freak. I had to tell him one of my favorite things he's done was his character “Eddie” in “Barfly”. I was, and still am, a HUGE Charles Bukowski fan so when that movie came out I bought it as soon as it was available! Bought it on laserdisc. Remember those? The size of an LP but digital video. Before DVD's were out.
So it was a great time and nice to share a birthday with a couple of my dearest friends. I've put up a few pictures so I hope you enjoy them! Talk to you soon friends… Jason
